Steps
and precautions: |
|
|
|
After
the restoration of gingival health, three more phases are to
come: gingivectomy, gingivoplasty and grafts (removal of gum
excesses and plastic correction of the same). The
fulfillment of this last step is extremely important in several
cases, such as: |
- Patients
with a high smile and short teeth (covered with gum)
- Patients
who lost some dental elements including tissue
- Correction
of gum alignment problems
- Innumerous
circumstances when patients either don't feel at ease
with the appearance of their gum or have some localized
problems because of trauma or disease
|

|
|
Precautions -
Patients should be very cautious when choosing surgery and
should ask for recommendation of a practitioner to perform it. If
treatment is planned imprecisely, instead of helping, it may
alter the relation between teeth length and breadth. There
may be interferences in the harmonious relation between
teeth, gum, smile, which often cause sensitiveness to cold,
hot, acid food (dentine sensitiveness) and consequently a
lower self-esteem. |
